Guru means the person who removes the darkness of ignorance.
“ Gu” means darkness of ignorance and
“ Ru” means one who removes it.
Therefore one who removes darkness of our ignorance is a Guru.
Only he who removes our ultimate darkness, known as Maya, and who inspires and guides us on to the path of God-realization is the true Guru.

· Why one needs the Guru?
1. Every person in this whole world want to be happy, is there any person who want to be unhappy or sad?
2. What is the happiness?
The vibrations or thoughts that makes us feel good from inner of the body and deep of the heart, the time when not a single negative thought comes in our mind, the period during which one feels that he is zero in front of the supreme (god) is known as real happiness.
The happiness which remains forever in your deep of the heart.
The question is where to find this kind of real happiness?
We try to find the happiness from eating pizza, playing, smoking, drinking alcohol and many more things.
· Ask yourself it this a true happiness. Do we fill continuously happy after having a drinking alcohol for once?
· Ask yourself it this a true happiness. Do we fill continuously happy after having a drinking alcohol for once?

· Do all this inventions has given peace to the world and us?
At this time one needs a spiritual Guru to give all this explanation.
· Guru develops the ability of being happy in every condition of life.
Real happiness of life.
We have 5 main senses, the happiness and unhappiness/ sadness are feel by this five sense.
All this five sense are the input devices of our body.
· The senses cannot differentiate the right and wrong information to sense. It means all the input devices of body will sense all the information (positive & negative).
If the negative vibrations are already filled in our body by the input devices than the result will the negative on us.
Hence here the true saint (guru) is required to differentiate the negative and positive vibrations for the senses.
· Guru makes our all sense positive and provides the the deep knowledge of the senses and its impacts.
· Guru gives the energy to make all the senses positive
· If this senses becomes positive than the real happiness is developed within us and true life is lived by us.
Hence Guru is essential to live healthy positive life.
Guru is needed to give the divine touch and love.
· On the path of perfection in spiritual life, it’s essential to receive guidance from a Guru, a spiritual master or guide, because we can’t directly or immediately approach God on our own.
· If you want to meet the president or prime minister, you can’t expect to just knock on his door and get an audience. First you need an appointment from his secretary, or an introduction by a mutual friend. It is even more so with God. We each have a direct relationship with God because we are His children, but realizing and acting in that direct relationship is possible after we’ve become pure, which is a process. A spiritual master selflessly trains and guides us in reviving our relationship with God, and is always willing to help in difficult times.
· Throughout our life we take the help of teachers for almost every subject that we learn, from academics to music and sport. In the same way if one sincerely wants to make spiritual progress, it is important to have a spiritual teacher or Guru
· It is important not to underestimate the help of a Guru for those wanting to make real progress spiritually.
· Having a teacher to guide us in any field is invaluable. This is true in Spirituality as well. As Spirituality is subtle or intangible in nature, it is difficult to identify with certainty who is a spiritually evolved guide or Guru. A Guru is very different to a teacher or a preacher. He is a beacon of spiritual light in our world, and teaches us the universal spiritual principles that underlie all religions and cultures. This article expands on His characteristics and salient features.
· Each one of us seeks guidance from teachers, doctors, lawyers etc. in their respective fields. If a guide is needed even in these comparatively simple fields, then imagine the importance of the Guru, who releases one from the bondage of life and death.

Guru:
· A Guru Can Save Us From The Pangs Of Ignorance (Darkness) By Applying To Us The Balm Of Knowledge Or Awareness Of The Supreme, I Salute Such A Guru.
The scriptures advocate five attributes of: Nishkam, Nirlobh, Nirman, Niswad and Nisneha for a sadhu. The sadhu in whom one observes such attributes has a constant rapport with God. Therefore one should have immutable faith in his words, and by his words should realize the knowledge of God."
· "The sadhu who lives in a way in which he subdues his indriyas and antahkaran, but is not subdued by them, who engages in God-related activities only, strictly observes the Panch Vartamans, believes himself as being Brahman and worships Lord Purushottam, can be known neither as a human being nor a deva, since neither man nor deva possess such attributes. Therefore such a sadhu, though a human being, deserves to be worshipped at par with God.
· The disciple should humbly pose questions to the Guru and please him by serving him. He will then impart the knowledge of God, so ordain the wise sages.
· Shrimad Bhagvatam: Bhagwan Rushabhdeva advocates his sons: Obeying the Anuvrutti - unvoiced wishes - of God and Guru is devotion.
